Learning something new has never been too late, and every day you wake up is a chance to make a difference. Whether you like it or not, we live in an era where the only constant changes, and we will be left behind without continual learning. Life-long learning is the key to remaining in the know and even adding years to our lives.

Learning something new each day is good for us on so many levels. It stimulates our brains, keeps them healthy, makes us feel good about ourselves, exposes us to new experiences, helps us in a difficult job market, builds confidence, and builds relationships.

How to do lifelong learning?

To learn something new, there are countless ways to do it and its never too late to do it, including:

Books and courses. There is no shortage of books and courses on learning new skills or achieving goals, from entrepreneurship to programming languages.
Work or volunteering. If you need a change of pace from your current job, why not volunteer for a cause or organization you care about?
Community. A simple way to connect and meet with new people and enhance your social life is to join a community group.
Online. You are never alone, even if you feel like it! There are many forums, groups and communities to join online and share your interests or expertise with others.
Network. Get out there and meet new people.
Social media. Today there are many social media websites; for example, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are good tools to connect with others and learn something new.

If you have left your college days long behind, don't worry. You can learn almost anything these days with easy access to information on the Internet. Many community centres offer evening classes, and there are so many online courses available (many for free) at reputable institutions that you can efficiently study just about anything you want.

Why life long learning matter?

We need to be world citizens to build a prosperous country, not just focus on our own needs. On a personal level, we need to learn new skills to keep us relevant and to help us advance in our careers.

Everything that was invented was eventually used in some way or another. And if we are not learning something new each day, we will be left out of the loop.
